As they started up the trail, Eunice's father pointed out the many different flowers and trees. He showed Eunice the difference between the leaves of an oak tree and those of a maple tree.

"Look over there," Eunice whispered softly.

They had just turned a corner of the trail. A tiny baby raccoon stood to the side of the path. It appeared to be lost as it stumbled around frantically in the tall grass.

"Its mother must be close by. Do you think we should stop and watch it?" she asked.

Concerned, Eunice's father agreed. They had their lunch while waiting for the raccoon's mother. They also watched the tiny raccoon until it wore itself out and fell asleep. Not long after, they caught sight of a larger raccoon rushing through the bushes. It headed straight to the smaller one and sat down next to it.
