Sir Walter Scott, a famous author, was also a cat-lover. He lived with a cat called Maida. One night in 1825, a fire started while Sir Walter was in his bedroom. Soon, the strong heat woke him. He was shocked to see that the room was filled with thick smoke. He could not stop coughing and could hardly breathe as he tried to make his way to the door.
